I thought my generation of Gill girls was the first to fight over boys. Alas, I was quite wrong. My first post is an absolutely delightful article I found recently describing a “cat fight” between Bernadette Gill Smallwood (great-Uncle Barney’s daughter) and the old girlfriend of Bernadette’s new husband. This fight apparently took place in the street near 324 S. Lorimer. Keep in mind the year was 1914. The ladies would have been wearing dresses and probably hats and gloves — oh how I wish one of spectators had taken a picture with their cell phone :>) The writing style is typical ‘yellow journalism’ of the time. The article is too long to print in full here, so click here for the full story and enjoy!
